~and I love this life~
We had a chance to catch the sunset tonight as we drove home to Newkirk from Arkansas City, Kansas. It was Mike who noticed it first and he motioned to me as we headed south across the Kansas-Oklahoma line. I grabbed my phone to catch a picture of it.
As the sun continued to sink lower and lower into the western horizon, I could not help but to be reminded of what a blessing it is to be able to see both the sunrise and the sunset during the course of a normal day. It's a sign that we have survived yet another 24 hours and that the good Lord still has plans for us here on earth. For those of us (myself included) who take life for granted from time to time, we would all do well to remember a sobering thought.
Somewhere out there was a person who saw the sunrise this morning but never made it to the end of the day. So in everything we do give thanks for the life that is ours and if you are fortunate enough to have someone to share it with, well then you probably should consider yourself pretty well off.
Before Mike and I got married, I often times found myself fearful of living life alone into my advancing years. I had no idea that God was saving the very best to the last for me. For the past nearly 7 years now we have been traveling through life together as we shared many a sunrise and sunset wherever we found ourselves at the time.
The day is now done. The sunlight of only an hour ago has traded places with the evening sky. It will soon enough be time to call it a night and get some much needed sleep, only to get up a few hours later and start it all over again.
I love this life and I thank God every single day for it.

Our life is very simple, common, and ordinary. I am happy about that.
