~keeping the faith~

~from Kay County, along the border between Kansas and Oklahoma~

And another day begins.

There are a couple of things that, virus or not, Mike and I have tried hard to not forget.
The first and foremost one would surely be that God is still in control.
The other is that we are so grateful to have each other.

So far, we are thankfully still in good health.
We try to eat a decent meal and have maintained a habit of walking as much as possible during the course of a given day.  It's way too tempting to find yourself parked in a chair and glued to the television and neither of us like that idea.  You have to maintain self-discipline in times like these, but the truth is that self-discipline is a virtue all of us should have been practicing all along.

Really.

Attempting to keep things somewhat normal, even in the craziness of the world right now, is perhaps the best of medicine.  We still make our bed every single morning with Mike taking his side and I take mine.  There's always a discussion of whether or not the flat sheet should be aligned at the top of the mattress as well as a difference in opinion about whether or not to tuck the covers in at the foot of the bed.  Of course it really doesn't even matter during times like these or any other times, but it's what we usually discuss as we have made our bed for the past nearly 7 years now.  I guess you can refer to that by one word.

~normalcy~

As we all strive to attain some degree of a new temporary normal for the weeks and months ahead, may we do so with gratitude in our hearts for the things that have never changed since this all began. I still love to hear from my family and friends.  It remains fun to see the look of panic on Mike's face when I suggest that if all else fails, I can give him a hair cut.  There is nothing more precious to me at this time than to hear from my children and to know that they and my grandchildren are doing fine.  As a teacher, I give thanks that I can still reach out virtually to the children from my 5th grade classroom.

And I lift up my hands to the heavens with faith in the knowledge that God has wrapped the whole world in his tender and loving hands.  No virus can take that away.

Take care.
Take heart.
Stay together.
